The Decarbonising Transport through Electrification (DTE) Network+ is a £1M EPSRC funded multidisciplinary project addressing the challenges of implementing an electrified, cost effective and holistically operating transport sector for the UK. The DTE Network+ has four main workstreams listed below.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

We are bringing together academia, industry and the public sector to address the challenges limiting the implementation of electrified, integrated transport systems. We are exploring drivers for change including technology, individual mobility, economics and socio-environmental concerns.

Whole System Approach

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Our whole system approach considers transport system challenges accross all spatial and temporal scales, from a multi-modal perspective. Specifically, we are researching the automotive, rail and aerospace sectors in an integrated manner to better understand their interactions and the effects of systemic change.

Sustained Work and Agility

Sustained Work and Agility

The interactions between modal choice, energy vector, infrastructure and other sectors within transport are becoming ever more blurred. Hence, DTE Network+ is part of Cut Carbon Hub, a major £5m investment in decarbonising transport by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). These five networks provide unparalleled expertise from  academia and industry to lay the groundwork for the use of low carbon technologies across the road, rail, marine and air networks. Sustained Work and Agility

Sustained Work and Agility

Sustained Work and Agility

This Network+ is continually developing and sustaining an interdisciplinary team with the ability to respond quickly to changes in the transport and energy landscape. We have mechanisms to support early career researchers and to widen the dissemination of our results. We constantly engage and participate with end-users, SME's, government, and industry at national and local levels. We aim to have high visibility for our research work, to develop extensive user and stakeholder engagements, identify key links between our partners and to produce strategic transferability for all our network outputs.
